You don't need to drive perfectly on your driving test. Drive the way you've been taught by your instructor. If you make a mistake, forget it, you ARE allowed to make quite a few and concentrate on the rest of your driving.

Now for the boring bits about learning to drive

Before you start your driving lessons you should have a provisional driving licence. If you don't have one you need to apply for one from the DVLA.

You can obtain a provisional driving licence application form from your local post office.

You can apply for your provisional car driving licence up to three months before your seventeenth birthday (however, it would not become valid until you were seventeen).

Although you can start your driving lessons as soon as your provisional driving licence becomes valid, you cannot book the driving test until you have passed the theory test. You will receive your test results on the day of the test. You can book your theory test to take place on or shortly after your seventeenth birthday provided you have a provisional driving licence.

The waiting time for a driving test is typically 3 - 9 weeks. Sooner dates may be available through test appointment cancellations. Provided you have a valid provisional driving licence you can start your driving lessons before you take your theory test.

Once you have passed your theory test you can book your driving test and schedule the remaining part of your driving lessons. Learning to drive does not have to be a long process, you can go for a semi orfull intensive driving course, it's up to you

what to do after you pass.

After you do pass your driving test (theory & practical) you will need to exchange your pass certificate for a new full licence. Be warned, don't let all your hard work go to waste. If you don't claim your test pass and exchange it for a full licence within two years of the date you passed, you will automatically lose your entitlement to it! This means that you will have to do further driving and pass both the theory and practical tests again!
